Csengőd funeral ceremony hall
The idea to extend the existing cemetery in Csengőd emerged during the last few years, since due to the increasing number of residents, the existing funeral ceremony hall cannot meet the needs of the village any more. Building a new, 90sqm funeral ceremony hall became necessary. At the client’s request, the old funeral ceremony hall will stay, so the cooling and preparatory functions necessary for burials will still be met in the old building, and the new funeral ceremony hall can become a space of grace and farewell, making it suitable for celebrating funeral services.
The two buildings together ensure the use for the intended purpose in accordance with respective laws. The mass of the building and its gradually opening dynamic originates from the thought of saying goodbye. From the entrance towards the graveyard, the massive, monolithic building gradually runs short and dissolves into thin air.
